Jefferson County Preservation Society Supports Endorsed Candidates

In the April 23rd Standard Banner, a reader wrote in saying folks should “vote for farmers, not candidates endorsed by the Preservation group.” We appreciate anyone who takes the time to speak up, but we’d like to share a little more of the picture.

Here in America — and right here in Jefferson County — our strength has never come from just one group of people. This place was built by a partnership of:

  • Farmers, who keep our communities fed and grounded
  • Military and Law Enforcement, who protect our freedoms and keep our towns safe
  • Business, industry, and the economy, which create jobs and keep families moving forward

Farming is a huge part of who we are. But it’s not the only part. Leaving out the folks who serve, protect, build, and keep the economy running leaves out big pieces of what has made this county strong for generations.

That’s why the Jefferson County Preservation Society endorsed the candidates we did. The 11 candidates we’re supporting come from a mix of these core areas — farming and agriculture, military service, government, finance and business expertise, and community leadership. They weren’t chosen because of one background alone. They were chosen because of their diverse backgrounds and also because they’ve shown the values that matter most to the people of this county:

  1. Transparency — being open and honest with the public
  2. Good communication — listening well and speaking plainly
  3. Fiscal responsibility — treating taxpayer dollars with respect
  4. Integrity and ethics — doing the right thing even when no one’s watching

Jefferson County works best when all parts of our community pull together — the folks who grow our food, the folks who protect us, and the folks who keep our economy alive. That’s the kind of balanced leadership we believe in, and that’s why we stand behind the candidates we endorsed.

Please remember to Vote:  Early Voting ends on April 30th.  Primary Election Day is May 5th.
